About Radioplayer

What is Radioplayer?

Radioplayer is a non-profit partnership between the BBC and commercial radio. Our aim is to keep radio listening simple, particularly on things which are connected to the internet, like computers, smartphones, and tablets.

Web player

Working with designers from the BBC and across the radio industry, we launched our first shared web player for computers in 2011. With simple, consistent controls and a powerful search engine, it quickly became the industry standard. It’s now used by over 400 stations across the UK, and more than 6 million people every month.

Mobile and tablet apps

In 2012, with smartphone use growing quickly, Radioplayer released a series of apps, first for mobiles and then for tablets. These have continued to develop and grow, remain free to download, and are available for iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, Kindle Fire and Windows 8 Phone.
